Flu Shot Safe…for Six Whole Weeks!

Study Finds Flu Shots Are Safe for Kids - washingtonpost.com

Let me be honest here. My kids will likely get a flu shot this year. (They’re two and four years old.) They’ve never had the flu or been sick with much of anything. I think having them eat well and keeping them active is the most important preventive step there…but we’ll still get the shot.

This study shows that there are no major side effects in the first six weeks of getting a flu shot. I’ve always noticed some soreness and a slowing of activity after my girls have gotten them, but apparently, that doesn’t count here unless there’s a runny nose associated with it.

The short-term symptoms are not my biggest concern. Instead, I’m worried about what happens after getting injected with low levels of aluminum and mercury year after year. Does it lead to higher levels of cancer? Or Alzheimers?

I’m disappointed in the headlines coming from this story. Above, we see it saying “Study Finds Flu Shot Are Safe for Kids.” Shouldn’t it say, more accurately, “Study Finds Flu Shots Don’t Cause Runny Noses for Six Weeks”? The headline that actually appears, which is all most people may read, doesn’t accurately portray the study. It’s, thus, more like propaganda.

This research was done mainly at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, exactly the place my kids will get their shots. We were probably in the study last year. I don’t like the fact that my daughters were used to create a nice PR story for the vaccine manufacturers–one that they will likely use to keep off pressure to create shots that don’t contain dangerous heavy metals.
